Pakistan retained its gold in the hockey event of the South Asian Games defeating arch rival India 4-3 in tie-breakers in the final at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday 07 February 2010. The match rolled into the tie-breakers after the regulation and extra time ended in a one-all draw. India tried to subdue the Pakistanis from the beginning with a flurry of moves and took an early lead when skipper Ajitesh Roy scored from a penalty corner just six minutes after the push-off. Pakistan players toiled hard for an equaliser in the remainder of the first session but their efforts went futile as their goal-shy forwards frittered away some easy chances. Pakistan, which lost to India 5-1 in the preliminary-round match, started to gain rhythm as the second half wore on and the defending champions returned to the contention when Wasif Siddque converted a penalty corner on 45 minutes to put the match on an even keel. Bangladesh staged a brilliant comeback to score a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Sri Lanka to reclaim the bronze medal in the hockey event of the 11th South Asian Games on Sunday 07 February 2010. Bangladesh successfully negated its first half deficit and emerged winner when Ashiquzzaman and Mamunur Rahman Chayan scored goals in the second half of the third-place play-off match at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka. It was a sweet revenge for the hosts who lost their bronze to the same opponents in 2006 Colombo South Asian Games. Bangladesh coach Gerhard Peter Rach said it was the outcome their hard work. “We worked hard to regain bronze. It was our commitment. Boys put a lot of efforts and got the reward. It would have been more happier for me if we would have won the silver,” the German said.

India Vs Bangladesh - A do or die match for Host Bangladesh, as they have to win this match for Playing final. Bangladesh played well till the half time as they lead by 2-0, But in second half India recover well and put 3 goals and at last settle Bangladesh to 3-3 Draw.  Now India will face Pakistan, who depends on India vs Pakistan match. And for Bronze medal Host will face Sri Lanka.

Skipper Ajitesh Roy led from the front with five goals as the Indian hockey team mauled an inexperienced Nepal 21-0 to make a resounding start at the 11th South Asian Games on Saturday.  Such was India's domination in the match that even coach Clarence Lobo lost count of the team's goal scorers. Asked how many goals did Man-of-the-Match Roshan Minz score, the amazed coach turned to one of the players for an answer. According to the coach, India fielded a second string side captained by Ajitesh Roy but the completely inexperienced Nepal, who incidentally featured in their second international outing after 10 years, crumbled nonetheless. Nepalese, who were playing after featuring in the 1995 Games in Chennai, were playing on the artificial turf for the first time. It was complete domination by India as Roy led from the front, banging in five goals in the 15th, 58th, 59th, 66th and 68th minutes.
