India defended their volleyball gold medal by defeating Pakistan in the final by 3-1(23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-16) in the South Asian Games at the Mirpur Shaheed Sohrawardy Indoor Stadium here. Subba Rao, Ukkara Pandian Sanjay Kumar, Naveen Raja Jacob and Srikanth were the stars of the show, as well as the Indian Senior Men's Team. Subba Rao played extraordinary in blocking while Ukkara Pandian created some excellent set-ups and adding to the game plan were some extraordinary counter attacks by Naveen Raja Jacob and Srikanth which enabled the team to win with formidable margin. Indian coach G.E.Sridharan said, “Our hard work has paid off. The key to our success was our attack. Our blockers also stepped up in the finals blocking Pakistan attackers on a regular basis.”

India once again defeated Pakistan to win another Gold on Golden day. India beat Pakistan by 3-1 sets to win volleyball Gold of the 11th SA Games at the Mirpur Shaheed Sohrawardy Indoor Stadium on 04 February 2010. Volleyball finals of the 11th SA Games Dhaka 2010 between India and Pakistan will take place on Thursday 04 February 2010 at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium. Pakistan and India booked final berths on Wednesday 03 February 2010 beating Sri Lanka and Maldives respectively in the semifinals. In the first semi-final, Pakistan defeated the Lankans by 26-24, 25-21, 25-19 points. India won the second semi-final against Maldives by 25-21, 25-12, 25-14 points.
