India beat Pak, bag SAG volleyball gold

India defended their volleyball gold medal by defeating Pakistan in the final by 3-1(23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-16) in the South Asian Games at the Mirpur Shaheed Sohrawardy Indoor Stadium here.

Subba Rao, Ukkara Pandian Sanjay Kumar, Naveen Raja Jacob and Srikanth were the stars of the show, as well as the Indian Senior Men's Team.

Subba Rao played extraordinary in blocking while Ukkara Pandian created some excellent set-ups and adding to the game plan were some extraordinary counter attacks by Naveen Raja Jacob and Srikanth which enabled the team to win with formidable margin.

Indian coach G.E.Sridharan said, “Our hard work has paid off. The key to our success was our attack. Our blockers also stepped up in the finals blocking Pakistan attackers on a regular basis.”
